Ar dabu, cilvēkiem, dzīvniekiem, sajust to, ka esam daļa no visa.
WORK THAT RECONNECTS - WORKSHOP
Being human can be challenging, especially when the Earth we live in is being threatened. It can be easy to forget what we love about life, what is meaningful, what we are here to do, and especially that we are not doing it alone. In this workshop, we will explore together what it means to be human. Using practices developed by Joanna Macy (and others,) we will reconnect to our joy, our grief, our love, and our connection to each other. We will move through a series of exercises that help us remember what makes us truly come alive, and the gift of being a human being on Earth at this time. We will have a chance to express our pain for all the things going wrong in the world: personally, collectively, locally and globally. By expressing our pain, we remember what we love. We will build our relationship with the past and the future generations, and find guidance for how to move forward with our lives in challenging times. Ultimately, we want to help create a better world for our children, and the many generations to come; this workshop will help us find the inspiration to do this. We aim to remember our true nature, which is connected to all life...and to empower each person to reclaim her life, and act on behalf of her community and the living Earth.
This workshop will be led in English, with clear and simple language; it is helpful if you speak English, however, you are also welcome to speak in your mother tongue for many of the exercises. Exercises will include forms of meditation, ritual, and sharing with others. People of all ages, genders, backgrounds, and physical abilities are welcome. Please wear clothing to be comfortable. Food is not included; please bring snacks if you need them. We are offering a short, free introductory session on 17-03 for anyone who wishes to sample the work. http://zeltaaplis.lv/notikums/living-heart-gratitude-grief-and-resilience
The Work That Reconnects is based in ancient spiritual traditions, Deep Ecology, and Systems Theory. It is founded in the understandings that the Earth is alive, and that our true nature is far more ancient and encompassing than the idea of the “separate self” that modern society usually leads us to believe. Our experience of pain for our world comes from our interconnectedness with all life, including past and future generations, human communities across the globe, as well as the non-human natural world. From this pain, also arises our power to act on behalf of Life. Only through allowing ourselves to actually feel this pain, do we find the clarity and courage to take action. Significant learning (and a desire to act) occurs when we physically, emotionally, and mentally experience our reconnection with the web of life. We understand that we are in a crucial moment of evolution, called The Great Turning, where our choices really matter. The Work That Reconnects is both a practical and a spiritual process of coming back to life, and discovering the authentic and natural activist within; the human being who loves life and desires to protect, defend, and enjoy it.
The central purpose of the Work That Reconnects is to bring us back into relationship with each other and with the self-healing powers in the web of life, motivating and empowering us to reclaim our lives, our communities, and our planet from corporate and colonial rule.
In order to do this, the Work That Reconnects:
- provides practices and perspectives drawn from systems science, Deep Ecology, and many spiritual traditions that elicit our existential connectivity with the web of life through space and time.
- reframes our pain for the world as evidence of our mutual belonging in a relational universe, and hence our power to take action on behalf of life.
- awakens stamina and buoyancy to live with full awareness of both the Great Turning and the Great Unraveling, historically and in present time, and to embrace the uncertainty.
- awakens us to the systemic injustice, racism, and oppression of the Industrial Growth Society, and generates our commitment to transform all our institutions for the benefit of all humans, whatever their color, culture, religion, gender identity, and history.
- affirms that our intention to act for the sake of all beings, and to become allies to all oppressed or marginalized people, can become organizing principles of our lives.
- helps us identify the strengths and resources we can mobilize in our commitment to the self-healing of the world.
- presents the Great Turning as a challenge that every one of us, in collaboration with others, is fully capable of meeting in our own distinctive ways.
